Mission and Ministry Commission
The functions of the Mission and Ministry Commission are:
(a) to examine questions of mission in this church on all matters dealing with the competency of ordained and authorised lay ministry, referred to it by the Primate, the Standing Committee or the General Synod, and to report thereon to the referring party and to the Standing Committee, and
(b) to make recommendations to the Standing Committee on matters or mission and ministry which are of importance to this church.
The focus on ministry was previously a shared responsibility between the Ministry Commission and the Task Force on Ministry (Fresh Expressions). In June 2015 the General Synod Standing Committee received a report from a group chaired by Archbishop Glenn Davies recommending that the Task Force on Mission be dissolved and the functions of Task Force be incorporated into the work of Ministry Commission to be renamed the Mission and Ministry Commission.
