Liturgy Commission
The functions of the Liturgy Commission are given as follows in Canon 19, 1998 Section 11:
  • To examine questions of liturgy referred to it by the Primate, the Standing Committee or the General Synod, and to report thereon to the referring party and Standing Committee.
  • To advise the Primate, the Standing Committee or the General Synod, on matters relating to the creative nurture and renewal of the liturgical life of this church.
The Liturgy Commission was established in 1962, by the first General Synod of the newly constituted Anglican Church of Australia. It currently operates under a canon of the 2001 General Synod, having these functions.
